Head of the Department, Applied Sciences

The Department of Applied Sciences serves as a cornerstone of the academic framework at the Indian Institute of Information Technology, Allahabad. It plays a pivotal role in delivering foundational science and mathematics courses across all engineering programs offered by the Institute. In addition to its teaching responsibilities, the department actively pursues advanced research in diverse domains, including Bioinformatics, Bioengineering, Pure and Applied Mathematics, and Physical Sciences. The department has a futuristic goal to develop strong foundations in science and engineering, empowering students to apply fundamental concepts effectively and confidently in addressing real-world challenges.
The Department of Applied Sciences offers a comprehensive range of core courses in Physics, Mathematics, Biology, and Statistics for undergraduate B.Tech. programs at IIIT Allahabad. In addition, the department provides elective courses and minor specializations in Physics, Mathematics, and Bioengineering. At the postgraduate level, the department offers M.Tech. programs in Bioinformatics and Biomedical Analytics & Engineering. A new interdisciplinary M. Tech. program on Quantum Information & Technologies has recently been introduced.
The department is committed to fostering excellence in research by providing talented and motivated students with opportunities to engage in advanced studies and innovative research in frontier areas of science, engineering, and technology. The faculty members of the department are producing world class research and a number of research outputs have been patented. The department has been hosting a number of research projects funded by the national and international agencies. The department shall continue to contribute to become a premier multidisciplinary hub for education, research, and innovation in Applied Sciences, contributing to technological advancement and societal development.
