Academic &Technical Council

IIIT Allahabad actively encourages student participation in technical societies as an extension of
formal academic learning. The institute provides a supportive environment that enables student-led
technical communities to thrive. Technical societies serve as incubators for new ideas, enabling
students to transform theoretical knowledge into practical solutions while strengthening their
technical expertise, leadership abilities, and professional competencies. This ecosystem contributes
significantly to the institute's strong performance in research, innovation, competitive programming,
hackathons, product development, and placements.

The technical societies operate within the Academic &Technical Council of the Students' Body. They
are student-led, but function under guidance of Officer-In-Charge( Academic and Technical
Council) and institutional oversight. Through Dean(Student Affairs). The technical societies
function through a collaborative model. Society Coordinators lead domain-specific initiatives,
Senior Members and Members execute technical activities.Volunteers participate in projects,
workshops, hackathons, and outreach, ensuring broad student involvement.

Technical Societies :
Currently there are five technical societies in IIIT Allahabad – Geekhaven, Google Developer’s
Group, Codeplus, Gravity and Tesla
1. GeekHaven is the premier technical society of IIIT Allahabad and serves as the umbrella
organization for technology-oriented student activities. The society comprises multiple specialized
wings including Competitive Programming, Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning, Web
Development, Cyber Security, Blockchain, Free and Open Source Software (FOSS), Android
Development
GeekHaven regularly organizes technical workshops, coding bootcamps, open-source contribution
drives, hackathons, project-based learning sessions, design challenges, Capture-the-Flag (CTF)
competitions, Git and GitHub training, and mentoring programs for junior students.

2. Google Developer Group (GDG) at IIIT Allahabad promotes learning and innovation using
modern Google technologies and cloud platforms. GDG encourages students to build projects that
address real-world challenges while becoming active members of the global developer community.
Major activities include Google Cloud and Firebase training, Technical talks by industry experts,
Solution challenges and hackathons, Community outreach and developer meetups

3. CodePlus is a student-led initiative dedicated to strengthening the competitive programming
culture at IIIT Allahabad. Its mission is to develop strong problem-solving, algorithmic thinking,
and data structure skills among students through continuous mentoring. The society conducts DSA
training sessions, Interview preparation workshops, Competitive programming bootcamps, Peer
mentoring through Teaching Assistant (TA) programs, Practice sessions for national and
international programming contests. CodePlus plays a massive role in maintaining the institute's
renowned coding culture, which helps students secure top internships and tech roles at companies
like Google, Flipkart, and Sprinklr.

4. Gravity is the student society that promotes emerging technologies and interdisciplinary
innovation through technical events, collaborative projects, and community engagement. ts
activities include technical seminars, project exhibitions, innovation challenges, workshops on
emerging technologies, team-based engineering projects, student mentoring, technical event
management during institute festivals

5. Tesla is the institute's electronics and hardware-oriented technical society, fostering innovation in
embedded systems, robotics, Internet of Things (IoT), VLSI, electronics design, and hardware
prototyping. Its activities typically include Embedded systems development, PCB design and
hardware prototyping, Microcontroller programming, IoT projects, Robotics workshops, Technical
demonstrations
The society provides students with opportunities to integrate hardware and software for developing
intelligent systems and practical engineering solutions.

Annual Technical Festival – Aparoksha
Aparoksha is the flagship annual technical festival of IIIT Allahabad. It serves as a national
platform where students, researchers, developers, innovators, and industry professionals converge to
showcase technological excellence and creativity. The festival promotes innovation, collaborative
learning, and entrepreneurship through a diverse range of technical events. Major highlights include
Lectures by industry leaders and well known academicians, Hackathons, Technical quizzes,
Programming contests, Workshops by industry experts, Startup showcases, Hardware design
contests, Gaming competitions. The festival provides students with opportunities to demonstrate
technical expertise, interact with industry leaders, and collaborate with participants from institutions
across the country
