Dr. Ranjana Vyas has taught and mentored students in the Department of Information Technology at IIIT Allahabad since 1st July 2013, shaping her classroom around the fast-evolving worlds of Process Science, Cloud Computing, the Internet of Things, Wireless Sensor Networks, and Digital Transformation. Over the years, she has guided a steady stream of doctoral and master's students toward meaningful research outcomes, including a joint international collaboration with the University of Messina, Italy (2018–2023), that took her students abroad for hands-on research experience.

Dr. Vyas's research sits at the crossroads of Process Mining, Data Mining, Business Intelligence, Explainable AI, Federated Learning, and Wireless Sensor Networks, fields she has helped advance through more than 65 publications in respected journals and conferences, including Expert Systems with Applications (IF 7.5) and the Arabian Journal for Science and Engineering. Her research journey has taken her well beyond Allahabad: after completing her Ph.D. in 2009, she pursued a DAAD-funded postdoctoral fellowship at the Technical University of Kaiserslautern, Germany (2010–11), building on an earlier 18-month stay at the same university (1996–97). She has since held visiting positions at Paderborn University (2018), Bielefeld University (2022 and 2023), Hof University of Applied Sciences (2022), and THM University of Applied Sciences (2025). Her long-standing collaboration with the University of Messina, Italy, has produced joint publications and research exchanges for her students. She also serves as an Editorial Board Member of The IUP Journal of Entrepreneurship Development (2025).

Beyond the classroom and the lab, Dr. Vyas has built something rare: a working bridge between research and real-world entrepreneurship. As Chief Coordinator of NewGen IEDC (New Generation Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Center) at IIIT Allahabad since 2018, a DST, Government of India-funded centre of excellence, she has mentored and helped fund nearly 84 start-up ideas with a She also serves as Co-Principal Investigator on the CBDE (Capacity Building in Design Thinking and Innovation) project, coordinated nationally by IIITD&M Kancheepuram (2024–27), and has carried IIIT Allahabad's name to international platforms, including the Indo-German Symposium on Smart Cities in Berlin (2016) and a series of invited talks and course modules at universities across Germany between 2018 and 2025.
