Prof. Shailendra Kumar is Professor and Head, Department of Management Studies, Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Allahabad, with over two decades of academic and administrative experience in leading institutions including M.J.P. Rohilkhand University, KCMT Bareilly and LM Thapar School of Management, Patiala. He holds an MBA in Finance and a Ph.D. in Management from M.J.P. Rohilkhand University, Bareilly, where his doctoral work examined the impact of financial sector reforms on the Indian capital market. His teaching and academic interests span Corporate Finance, Investment Management, Asset Pricing, International Financial Management, Asset Management and Financial Inclusion. He has contributed to curriculum development, programme coordination and academic governance through roles such as Head of Department, DPGC Convener, Admission Coordinator and member of various academic bodies.
Prof. Kumar’s research focuses on corporate finance, asset pricing, financial markets, hedging, behavioural finance, neurofinance, fintech and financial inclusion in emerging economies. He has published more than fifty research papers, case studies and book chapters in peer‑reviewed journals and edited volumes, including ABDC/SSCI/Scopus indexed outlets such as Risk Management, Borsa Istanbul Review, Global Business Review, Human Behavior and Emerging Technologies and Acta Psychologica. His work has been supported by several sponsored projects from agencies such as ICSSR, IIIT Allahabad, Saudi Ministry of Higher Education, UCOST and SBI Life, covering themes like financial inclusion, MSME competitiveness, cyber security awareness, Atal Pension Yojana and religious tourism. He has supervised more than 10 doctoral theses and a large number of MBA and master’s research projects, and serves as reviewer or editorial board member for international journals across finance, management and interdisciplinary domains.
Prof. Kumar is actively engaged in academic and professional outreach through invited expert lectures, keynote addresses and panel discussions at institutions such as IITs, IIMs, NITs, central and state universities and leading business schools in India and abroad. He regularly delivers sessions on topics including corporate finance, research methodology, theory building, behavioural finance, startups and the impact of artificial intelligence on business models. He has designed and conducted numerous workshops, FDPs and short‑term programmes—such as the “Crafting Research” series, programmes on machine learning applications in business, techno‑entrepreneurship and research modelling—as well as a GIAN course on hedge funds and their trading strategies. His outreach extends to conference chairing, session chairing, membership of scientific and advisory committees, consultancy‑cum‑training projects with industry, and leadership of ICSSR‑sponsored conferences and dissemination workshops.
