Dr. Abhishek Vaish is an Associate Professor in the Department of Information Technology at the Indian Institute of Information Technology Allahabad. He received his PhD from IIIT Allahabad and has been actively engaged in teaching, academic leadership, curriculum development, research supervision, and cybersecurity education. He currently coordinates the M.Tech. program in Cyber Law and Information Security, and has previously coordinated the MSCLIS program and served as a placement coordinator. He has guided six PhD theses and mentored numerous postgraduate and undergraduate students.

His professional experience includes working as an Associate Consultant (Information Security) at Wipro Ltd., where he contributed to penetration-testing laboratories, Information Security Management Systems, vulnerability assessment and penetration testing, wireless security, and security initiatives for the telecommunications and banking sectors. He also served as Chief Cyber Security Officer at the Embassy of India, Moscow (2015–2017) and as a Research Consultant with M.H. Alshaya, Kuwait.

Dr. Vaish has undertaken several international academic and professional assignments, including teaching and research engagements in Russia, Slovenia, Myanmar, and the USA. He has contributed to cybersecurity curriculum development at SUNY Buffalo, taught digital forensics at the University of Maribor, and participated in international cybersecurity education initiatives at MIPT, Moscow. He is also an Academic Advocate for ISACA, USA, and has received the 33rd Fellowship Award from ITMO University, St. Petersburg, Russia (2022). 

Dr. Abhishek Vaish's research encompasses cybersecurity, information security, Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC), cyber risk management, dynamic malware analysis, network security, digital forensics, cyber intelligence, cybersecurity resilience, IoT security, and security of emerging technologies. His doctoral research addressed the measurement and evaluation of the effectiveness of information security management and risk, with a framework emphasizing operationalization, comprehensiveness, and resilience in cybersecurity risk assessment. His recent research extends to AI/ML-enabled malware detection, DDoS detection, IoT security, blockchain-enabled digital forensics, cybersecurity intelligence, and Agentic AI-based endpoint detection. His research portfolio includes publications in SCIE/ESCI-indexed journals, international conferences, and book chapters, along with several ongoing and completed externally funded projects. 

He has served as Principal Investigator/Co-Principal Investigator on projects supported by agencies including DST, MeitY, the Government of Uttar Pradesh, MHA, MSME, and VGST, including bilateral DST-RFBR projects with Russia and an ongoing Indo-Slovenian project on a hybrid real-time intrusion detection framework based on cybersecurity intelligence monitoring. His research portfolio also includes a patent application on lightweight data compression for resource-constrained devices and a technology/start-up initiative focused on resource-efficient IoT data management.

Dr. Abhishek Vaish has been actively involved in cybersecurity capacity building, international academic collaboration, and institutional outreach. He has contributed to the establishment of a Cyber Security Research Lab at the University of Computer Studies, Yangon, supported cybersecurity education initiatives at MIPT, Moscow, and regularly conducts teaching and training programs in Digital Forensics and Cybersecurity at the University of Maribor, Slovenia. He has also contributed to the development of cybersecurity curricula at SUNY Buffalo, USA.

His international engagement includes serving on the External Board of the State Examination Committee of ITMO University in St. Petersburg, delivering invited lectures at MIPT in Moscow and the University of Maribor, and participating as an invited speaker in programs on cybersecurity and 5G technologies. He has also been involved in international workshops, short-term courses, and cybersecurity training initiatives for diverse academic and professional audiences. He actively mentors universities and institutions in establishing cybersecurity laboratories, developing cybersecurity curricula, and strengthening cybersecurity education and awareness. His outreach combines academic expertise with practical cybersecurity experience, enabling collaboration between academia, industry, government, and international institutions.
